On Saturday 27 October 2012, NEOShield participated in SpaceUp Stuttgart, Germany's first space 'unconference'. SpaceUp is an unconventional space exploration meet-up where the participants decide the topics, schedule and structure of the event. Held at the Space Center Baden-Württemberg at the Institute for Space Systems of the University of Stuttgart, there were a range of topics such as the exploration of Mercury, the challenges of science communications in a crisis and the use of existing technology to send a spacecraft to the Moon.

NEOShield's Araba Molly Acquaisie gave a 20 minute presentation on the project itself, NEO close approaches, the effects of a NEO impact and the research being done on various mitigation methods. This was followed by a 10 minute question and answer session which quickly became a lively discussion amongst the whole crowd on asteroid impacts and deflection possibilities.
